It helps that you cut the head off at the bottom of the collar - a perfectionist might want to fill in the back of the collar at the join, but paint will hide it I think.

What I did notice is that some of the spare heads clearly have habit-veste collars whilst others have greatcoat collars - tricky to spot at first, but it is noticeable. So you need to ensure you swap the rights ones, and that the collars and cuffs match...er...

GilesGileshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01431052344684945450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26773117.post-7015543219146660162008-11-03T14:45:00.000+00:002008-11-03T14:45:00.000+00:00Ha-ha! Finally a period that we are both working on, in the same scale, at the same time!

I bought a couple of these boxes at the weekend - the Perries were selling them at a discount at our Waterloo/Long Island mega-games, and unfortunately I had some cash on me, so....

I hadn't noticed that the packs were different, so thanks for pointing that out. I'd better check them tonight before undercoating (if you use a black undercoat, I suspect it's easier to paint them fully assembled). Still a bit wary of doing the head-swaps, although the Perries assured me it's really easy and no filling is necessary (hmm...).

At 1:20 for GdB the Quatre Bras French have lots of 20 and 24 figure regiments, which for me is perfect.

I have to admit to liking greatcoats. They are quick to paint and lots of different greys, browns and dark blues can, strangely, look quite colourful in their own way...

GilesGileshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01431052344684945450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26773117.post-40853808794440078562008-11-03T12:26:00.000+00:002008-11-03T12:26:00.000+00:00"Charles Grant rules"... magic words indeed! I'm looking forward to reading more....

I guess I'm in two minds about greatcoats - yes you can paint many more troops in very little time, but isn't the joy of Napoleonics the truly splendid uniforms??Steve-the-Wargamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07077311120172727690noreply@blogger.com
